How to Register as a Guest

If you are a not a Fellow or a member of the Council for Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS), you can create a guest account in order to:

  • Submit an Abstract for the 2025 Health Policy Conference,
  • Purchase an Academy product,
  • Purchase an ad, sponsorship, or exhibit
  • Donate to the organization
  • Register for an event that is open to the public
  • Sign-up to receive non-member Academy emails and announcements

How to Become a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing

The American Academy of Nursing (Academy) is an honorific society that nursing leaders are inducted into based on a rigorous selection process. Fellows who are selected, participate in an Induction Ceremony held during the Academy’s annual Health Policy Conference in Washington, DC. After an individual who is selected participates in the Induction Ceremony, they are formally accepted into the organization and may use the FAAN credential.

Please note that all existing Fellows and Academy members (such as Living Legends, Honorary Fellows, etc.) have a member login created for them as part of their acceptance into the organization. Current Fellows do not need to register for an account. How to Become a CANS Member

The Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS) is signature initiative of the Academy with open membership. Any individual interested in nursing science can join CANS. Fellowship in the Academy is not required for any category of membership in CANS. However, Fellows are eligible to join CANS too. See more membership details here.

We invite membership from nurses and colleagues from other disciplines, as well as international colleagues. Discounted membership rates are available to individuals who are members one of CANS Partner Nursing Organizations (Sigma, ENRS, MNRS, SNRS, and WIN) and to individuals who are students.
